.Subquests Subquests are optional challenges within Order and Story Missions. Most Order Missions have subquests for finishing the mission under a certain time limit and for taking a small amount of damage, although the limits vary from mission to mission. Story missions often have the same types of subquests, plus subquests for destroying a certain number of a certain type of enemy, e.g., destroy 10 tanks.
There are also subquests for defeating bosses within a time limit.Subquests for a mission are not displayed in the mission briefing. In Order Missions, you are only shown the subquest criteria in the mission debriefing if you complete the subquest during the mission. (See the page for a list of subquests in each Order Misson.) In Story Missions, you will be shown the subquest criteria during and after the mission. You do not have to complete all subquests in a single playthrough of a mission. For example, if a mission calls for you to defeat an enemy AC, you can defeat it quickly (but take a lot of damage) in one playthrough to complete one subquest, then play it again taking minimal damage (but perhaps taking longer) to complete the other subquest.A crown icon will appear over the mission's icon if you have completed all the subquests in the mission.Mission Ranks You receive a grade ('rank') for each mission you complete. Unlike previous Armored Core games where your rank was determined by the amount of time it took you to complete the mission, in Armored Core V your rank is based on the amount of money you earn after ammo and repair costs. The best rank you can earn is an ', followed by the letters 'A' through 'F'.
