Fallen Sword Leveling Fallen Sword LevelingThis page was created to act as a guide for leveling buffs. If you follow these recommendations, you will level quickly over the long term.

Short term gains from Sacrifice are not recommended as explained below. The higher your max stamina, the faster you will level.

This is especially true when special potions from global quests or gifts from game admins come into play. There are a number of assumptions made here.

First, with the exception of Deflect in the Essential column and PvP prestige, this all basically ignores PvP altogether. All of the PvP specific buffs are in the Avoid column. Second, please use either, and/or to determine the best equipment setup for your level. The buffs are considerably less effective if you're not using the proper gear, and vice versa. Third, if you're using the proper gear and the proper buffs, you should be killing the creature with the first hit (1-hitting) at least until level 1100, possibly further, so all the buffs that assume multiple rounds of combat are in the Optional column.

The exception to this is when you have a @#$%! Creature that likes to Dodge. But that's why Summon Shield Imp is under Essential. Fourth, I'm working under the assumption that you're using as many complete sets as possible (Smashing Hammer) and no items that are not from a set (Coordinated Attack/Defense) while hunting. Please look below the Quick List chart for explanations of why I recommend what I do. Otherwise, direct questions or suggestions to. Last updated 3 September 2015.Quick ListEssential - These are buffs I never go without.

Many of them either directly or indirectly give you more xp for less stamina. Or they provide some other indispensable function. Recommended - Highly advisable, but not indispensable. Many of these can help you get extra xp by helping Overkill trigger. Optional - These buffs are helpful some of the time or only in certain situations. Many of these are pointless if you're 1-hitting. Avoid - These buffs are entirely pointless (or downright harmful) for you when you're hunting.

They are either for PvP, SE or Titan hunting, or when nothing else works. If you like xp and gold, don't use them. If someone buffs you with them, get rid of them.Red = Increases damage (or otherwise helps Overkill to trigger). Use when using Overkill to increase xp per kill. Green = Increases max stamina when wearing corresponding gear.

Leveling

Also helps Overkill, so keep it active while hunting. Orange = Increases max stamina when wearing corresponding gear, but CANCEL before hunting!

Blue = Only available as a potion. Blue cell = Use a potion rather than just a buff if possible as long as the buff level is over 175. = If you're in a dark realm, Vision is essential. = Can increase xp per kill if you're using Overkill AND a Necrosis potion AND you happen to be hitting Undead class creatures. = Can increase xp per kill if you're using Overkill AND Savagery/Chi Strike.EssentialRecommendedOptionalAvoidEnchant WeaponRageStunSE SlayerDark CurseFuryBlood ThirstDeath WishDemoralizeBerserkHoly Flame.Spell BreakerIron FistWitherRighteous.Spell LeechOverkillShatter ArmorShockwaveDistractionEnchant ArmorSpectral KnightIgniteUndermineDeflectKeen EdgeArterial StrikeAnti DeflectUnbreakableDeath DealerPoisonMighty VigorSummon Shield ImpSavageryCursed RuneFist FightEnchant ShieldChi StrikeCursed RingBalanced AttackDegradeShield StrikeGreat VigorHonorFind ItemCoord. If in your attributes you have only a few level up points assigned to attack, the buffs that give you x% more base attack are only going to give you a few points total. On the other hand if you have a lot of points assigned to a particular attribute, like damage most likely, then the buff(s) might be worth it. I use a Potion of Fury which gives Berserk 350 because I have approximately 2000 level up points assigned to damage. I only have 100 points assigned to attack, so I generally ignore Rage.IF you happen to be wearing the corresponding epic items (that increase max stamina), do Enchant Weapon, Iron Fist, Cursed Ring, and Cursed Rune before you max out.

They will add to your max stamina. Make sure to log in again before they expire or the gains will disappear. (This obviously applies more when you are actually able to wear said equipment.) Just be sure to cancel Cursed Ring/Rune after maxing and before hunting so you don't have issues with Unbreakable not working.Overkill opens up a whole new can of worms. Overkill is great to get more XP/kill, BUT there are a few things to keep in mind. First, do NOT use Death Wish with Overkill. Death Wish prevents you from doing damage, so Overkill then doesn't trigger.

If you are 1-hitting, you don't need the help of Death Wish anyway. If you aren't 1-hitting, Overkill will never trigger, so use Death Wish instead of Overkill. Otherwise, save Death Wish for titans and SE's. If somebody sends you a lot of buffs, you might need to deactivate Death Wish, so watch for that. Immortal nightcore. Secondly, since Overkill triggers when you do double the required damage, you'll need buffs that will help you do that. They include Fury, Berserk, EW, maybe Holy Flame, Wither, Shatter Armor, Spectral Knight, Death Dealer, Savagery, Chi Strike, Shield Strike, Iron Fist, Coord Attack, Smashing Hammer, Heavy Weight, and Armored Strike. THIS is why a lot of people are lit up with so many buffs they look like a Christmas tree when they hunt! You ever run into the situation where the creature dodges the attack, making you miss, and then smashes you in the face?

The Dodge enhancement is a pain in the rear. So what do we do to get rid of Dodge (as much as possible)? Use Demoralize.

It wouldn't hurt to go through the enhancements on your profile page to get to know them better. Honestly, they apply more to PvP, but they're still good to know.

After over a year and a half of playing, I still have work to do on this one.Don't use Distraction. It will nom on all your gold and not even thank the chef. It's not worth it even if you're using Overkill.Defense:Like Rage, Fury, and Berserk, the 'base defense', 'base armor', and 'base HP' buffs, which are Fortify, Evade, Rock Skin, and Aura of Protection will be ineffective if you haven't assigned level up points to the defense, armor, and HP attributes.

My opinion: Devote all of your level up points to damage, except 100 to attack. Ignore the 'base ' buffs except for Berserk.Enchant Armor and Enchant Shield will give you a higher max stamina just like EW, IF, and Cursed Ring/Rune if you're wearing those stam items.Unbreakable will pay for itself. This applies to using the buff market or, at a higher level, Potion of Resilience. You like having more gold?

Use Unbreakable.Counter Attack is good against SE's. At any other time, you will blast through your stamina crazy fast and not realize why until later.Summon Shield Imp (SSI), as you very likely already know, is indispensable. You get 6 imps at skill level 150. Since your guild probably gives you an extra 25 skill levels, stop giving it skill points at 125 if you choose to devote points to it at all.All of the buffs that add additional defense, armor, and HP are icing on the cake. They will have a marginal effect, in combination with their offensive counterparts, on giving you more XP through Overkill.

I wouldn't buy them unless you find yourself in a situation where you really need them for some reason.Special:Find Item isn't as awesome if you're low on backpack slots. It is awesome if you're hunting SE's though. Also helpful for quests. But not as awesome as Quest Finder!

I loves me some Quest Finder. Resource Finder is also helpful for certain quests where you need to get resource drops specifically. Using RF and QF would have saved me a lot of headache earlier in the game!Treasure Hunter and Merchant are good.Adept Learner and Librarian are more effective than Light Foot at saving stamina.

If you quickly get the XP to level up, you don't have to walk around killing more creatures. I figured this out when comparing Darksun global event reward potions. I use Darksun Solution II (AL500, Sac500) exclusively. Yes, I would have a higher short term gain if I used that WITH the Darksun Bile (Conserve500, LF1500, Stalker250), but if I use up my chests by choosing Bile, then I have less chests for Solution and I give up higher gains over the long term.Animal Magnetism is also more effective than Light Foot at saving stamina. If you can continuously kill creatures without moving, then you're not using stamina to move! A high AM is a beautiful, beautiful thing. That said, LF is essential anyway because it saves stamina.

If LF is essential, Conserve is more so. You use the most stamina in killing creatures, especially with Doubler active.

So if you can get free kills, you will save the most stamina. Doubler also lets you avoid spending stamina to move, but it's more complicated.Empower is good because it boosts Elite Hunter. The idea that your other enhancements are also getting a boost is icing on the cake. Stalker also boosts Elite Hunter. The higher your max stamina, the more useful Brew Master is. If you can finish your hunt before your potions expire, then Brew Master is pointless. If you have to invent things, use Inventor 1 and 2, and Extractor 1 and 2. If not, don't bother.Mesmerize helps Overkill a little. If you care about your guild bank, DO NOT USE SACRIFICE!!

If you ever want to have a higher max stamina (for a variety of reasons), DO NOT USE SACRIFICE!! If you don't care about your guild bank, and you're satisfied with all your character upgrades, then Sacrifice will help you level faster.

I ran the numbers. The basic summary is this: Yes, you will get more XP/kill if you use Sacrifice, but you forfeit some or all of your gold. Before guild tax is taken out. So your guild doesn't get the gold from tax money and you don't get the gold you need to upgrade your stamina, increase backpack slots, increase stam gain (DO NOT UPGRADE XP OR GOLD GAIN IF YOU'RE GOING TO STAY ACTIVE), get more bank deposits, auction listings, etc. Not having this avenue to get gold severely handicaps you in the long run. Yes you can get gold by being a merchant, speculating on fsp (if you don't get robbed in the middle of it), watching promo videos, and selling buffs. But getting gold from hunting is your primary method of gold acquisition.

And, once again, using Sacrifice screws the guild out of tax money. My exception to this recommendation is a double or triple XP event when you get extra XP from each creature. During those events, assuming your guild bank is not in survival mode, do it.

Using Sacrifice will get you a LOT more XP if its gains are doubled.Reckoning can double Librarian. OO.Ok, ok, yes it chooses a skill at random, but still. If you're wearing stam gear, Epic Forge (and Epic Craft) can give you a ton of extra max stamina. Not counting potions like Potion of Truth (EW1000) and the like, Epic Forge will give you the most extra stam of any skill.

Just make sure you log in again before the buff expires. Otherwise you lose any gain you may have gotten.New buffs (April 2015)For leveling, Invert, Reign Of Terror, Fumble, and Titan Doubler are pointless. If you happen to be capturing relics during your hunt though, then of course Reign Of Terror is going to be a necessity.Critical Strike helps Overkill trigger and give you more XP.

Layered Armor and Defensive Aura will help Overkill as well as long as you're using Savagery.Quest Hunter is a huge help depending on your circumstances. Normally if you have a quest that requires you to kill 45 creatures (or however many), you'll complete the quest and still need more XP in order to level. In that case, Quest Hunter is pointless. However, if you're using a huge Doubler, another potion that makes you get massive XP per creature, or if it's a double XP event, then you might find yourself leveling up before completing the quest. Then to complete the quest you're hitting creatures below your level and not getting enough XP per creature.

THAT'S when Quest Hunter can help you get done the quest BEFORE you level up so you can keep going and continue hitting the proper level creatures. Those people with higher stamina often use a higher Doubler so they can get through their stamina before buffs time out. Quest Hunter can help those people speed up their hunt without missing out on XP then too.Teleport.is.awesome. The primary use was thought to have been for titan hunting so you don't have to spend stamina walking around the map chasing the titan constantly. However, after having used it, I now consider it absolutely essential for hunting.

You can use it to quickly get to quest checkpoints without using stamina. You can use it to get across one or more maps that are lower than your level at the beginning of your hunt. Teleport will also help you not have to walk in situations where you just killed an Elite and need to get back to the door, or when you level up and you're nowhere near the door to the next level map. Walking doesn't take near the stamina that attacking creatures does, but if you can avoid using stamina one way or another, it's worth it! And Teleport can save more stamina than Light Foot depending on your general xp/creature and level of Animal Magnetism.Thoughts on Doubler (DB)Doubler makes it so you use less of your available stamina walking in favor of using it to get xp (by killing creatures) instead.

Assuming 1 creature per square, without DB, you'd use 1 stam to kill the creature and 1 stam to walk to the next square. With a 2x DB, it'd be 2 stam to kill the creature, but you get twice as much xp too. So the kill:walk ratio is then 2:1. So then you only have to walk 2/3rds as much to get the same amount of xp.When going from world to world, you make your way from the portal you came in from over to the one that takes you to the next level world.

Ideally, you could walk straight across and get enough xp from killing creatures to level up at the exact time you reach the portal. With a really high doubler (DB), you'd level up before getting to the other side. In that situation, you're going to use stam from moving from the square you ended up on to the portal no matter what, so the DB didn't really save you that much stamina. With a really low DB, you're covering way more ground to get enough xp to level up than what would be necessary just to get to the other portal. So you can have too high of a DB and too low.

Thing is, Potion of Acceleration (DB500) costs more than Potion of Greater Doubler (DB750). So I'd go with either Greater DB, a decent composing potion, or just a buff.EDIT. If you are using Teleport, it doesn't matter where on the map you are when you level up. So use as high a doubler as you can afford and just teleport to the next portal.Thoughts on PvP prestigeThe PvP prestige buff gives you a maximum of 10% extra xp per creature for 60 minutes. In order to get prestige you have to attack other players. The easiest and safest way to do this is to find other players that you can exchange hits with.

Yes, you will lose xp when they hit you. However, you will gain much more xp with the buff than you will lose from hits. Two things will upset this balance: bounties and 100 stam hits. Make sure that the people who you exchange hits with will not bounty you and that they will only use 10 stam hits once every 3 days.
